OUR HISTORY

The history of the firm goes back to 1953, when our President Oscar M. Becerril , a visionary man, began to involve himself in Industrial Property (IP) matters as patent consultant to several IP firms who existed at the time. In 1959 he decided to begin his own IP firm, which has become one of the leaders in the Industrial Property field in Mexico.

Ms. Elvia Coca joined the firm in 1959 as founder and Managing partner. This represented a breakthrough within the firm, because from that moment on, our firm although small, began to operate in a very efficient manner, and with a very particular organization which have made our firm to grow steadily over the years.
.

Ricardo Becerril (†) joined the firm in 1960 as Partner and Director of Patents. He managed the technical aspects of patents, as well as technology licensing and trade issues for our clients. Thanks to his knowledge and ability, our prestige increased considerably and our firm was transformed in a highly efficient and truly advisory firm, which offered services in a wide range of IP matters. Another important fact is that his work allowed our firm to improve in organization and to emphasize our strengths.

Ms. Patricia Becerril , our current executive vice-president, became partner of the firm in 1979. She has been responsible of our constant technological renovation, and has made of Becerril, Coca & Becerril , S.C. one of the firms with best automated technology in the IP sector in Mexico.

With the unfortunate decease of Ricardo Becerril in 1998, his daughter Nuria Becerril, a young experimental biologist, joined the firm as a partner. Nuria has enriched our firm by conforming a group of experts who handles particularly biotechnology patent issues.

The emptiness that our dear Ricardo left was definitively too difficult to fill, but we did not give up. We took this very unfortunate event as an opportunity. Thus, in a relatively short time, we found a way to balance our firm again. We know Ricardo must be very proud of every one of us since we have made our dreams, who were also his, to come true. We are very proud to have made Becerril, Coca & Becerril one of the largest and prestigious firms in Mexico specialized in IP matters. We currently offer highly efficient services in the areas of human creations, previous art searches, trade secrets and distinctive signs, including enforcement of IP rights as well as technology trade and licensing.
