Fernando Becerril is
Mechanical and Electrical Engineer, specialized in Electronics. He
graduated from the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México, Facultad de
Ingeniería in 1998. Mr. Becerril joined the firm
in 1998 and became Director of IP Management in the year 2000. In May 2010, he was
invited as Partner of the firm and at the present time he is the CEO of
Becerril, Coca & Becerril. He is member of AIPPI, (International
Association for the Protection of Intellectual Property), INTA (International
Trademark Association), LES (Licensing Executives Society), ASIPI (Interamerican
Association of Intellectual Property), IPO (Intellectual Property Owners
Association), and AMPPI (Mexican Association for the Protection of Intellectual
Property). He is currently Mexican delegate for ASIPI. He has been invited as
speaker in several IP forums, speaking basically in topics related to IT and
Software. As well, he has published several articles related with domain names,
business methods and software patents in several media. Mr. Becerril has been
part of the Organizing Committee of several International events. As CEO of the

Enrique Caamaño-Coca is a
Business Administrator. He obtained a specialization in Strategic and Human
Resources Management at the Instituto Tecnológico de Estudios Superiores de MonterreyTecnológico de Estudios Superiores de Monterrey ( ITESM ), Campus Santa Fe in 2003. Mr. Caamaño joined Becerril,
Coca & Becerril SC in 1991. He became partner to the firm in May 2010 and
currently is CFO of the firm. He is a member of ASIPI
(Asociación Interamericana de la Propiedad Intelectual) since 2005. As an expert in the management of Human Resources and Strategic
Management and Finance, as well as in the forming high-performance teams, he
focuses his practice in the areas of Administration, Finance, and Human Resources.
PARTNERS
Oscar M. Becerril is the Founder
and Senior partner of the firm. He was born on August 21, 1926. Chemical
Engineer and Patent Attorney, he speaks Spanish, English and German, speaks and
reads French; reads Italian and Portuguese. Since 1955 he has been engaged in
the industrial property and technology transfer fields and has acquired a vast
experience in patent, trademark and copyright prosecution and enforcement, as
well as in licensing and other technology-related activities such as technical
analysis of inventions, preparation of patent specifications, technology
negotiation and contracting, analysis of technologic packages, implementation and
assimilation of technology, and research and development activities. He has
also a vast experience in international prosecution and enforcement of patents,
trademarks and copyrights, He acts as advisor of our Enforcement &
Litigation Team. Mr. Becerril has been included in the Euromoney Legal Group
Guide to the World’s Leading Trademark Law Practitioners and in the World’s
Leading Patent Law Experts for several years since 1998. He has been granted
the Honoris Causa Degree of Doctor in Humanities by the Stratford International
University, British Columbia, Wyoming.
He is a member of AMPPI (Mexican Association for the Protection of Intellectual
Property), LES (Licensing Executives Society), INTA (International Trademark
Association), ASIPI (Interamerican Association of Intellectual Property), AIPPI

Elvia Coca is founder and
partner of the firm. She was born on April 9, 1941. Business Administrator and
Accountant, she has a vast experience in the management of consulting and
industrial property firms. She has been engaged in the industrial property in
the Management area since 1962. She currently is advisor for every one of the
management and financial activities of the firm.

Patricia Becerril is Senior
Partner of the firm. She was born on November 13, 1954 She is Chemical Engineer and Patent Agent,
Diploma in Business Administration, she speaks Spanish, English, German and
French; and reads Portuguese and Italian. She has a vast experience in the
management of industrial property law causes, including filing, prosecution and
maintenance of patents and trademarks and in licensing activities. She also has
a vast experience in systems engineering and other informatics-related matters.
She currently counsels and participates very actively in all marketing,
promotion and quality program activities of the firm. Ms. Becerril has been
included in the Euromoney Legal Group Guide to the World’s Leading Trademark
Law Practitioners for several years. She is a member of AMPPI (Mexican
Association for the Protection of Intellectual Property), LES (Licensing
Executives Society Mexico),
INTA (International Trademark Association), ASIPI (Interamerican Association of

Partner. Marketing Head. Rosa
E. Nuria Becerril is Experimental Biologist. She graduated from the Universidad
Autónoma Metropolitana Campus Iztapalapa in 1996 and obtained that same year a Diplomate
Degree in Developmental Biology at the same University. She obtained a
Diplomate Degree in Management Skills at the Instituto Tecnológico de
Monterrey, Campus Santa Fe in 2003. She speaks English, German, and Spanish.
Nuria joined Becerril, Coca & Becerril SC as partner in 1998. She is a
member of AMPPI (Mexican Association for the Protection of Intellectual
Property). Nuria has participated as speaker on IP matters in several forums and
has published articles in different media such as International Law Office,
Mondaq.com and MiPatente magazine. She contributes to the yearly update of the International Pharmaceutical Law and Practice Manual chapter from Mexico for Lexis-Nexis. As Marketing Head of the firm, Nuria focuses
her practice in biotechnological patents advisory, and in marketing activities
of the firm.

Extraction. Hector E. Chagoya is Chemical Engineer, graduated from La Salle University. He joined Becerril, Coca
& Becerril in 1997, where he focused his activities as consultant for
Mexican and foreign companies in aspects of the analysis, drafting,
prosecution, and use of patents in polymers, biotechnology, pharmaceutics,
chemical products, and electronics/communications, including advisory in industrial
secrets protection. He became partner of the firm in 2010. As Director of IP
Value Extraction, he is in charge of the technology transfer activities of the firm
and he provides advisory in patent strategies, patent litigation and licensing.
Hector has been included since 2005
in the biannual “Guide to the World’s Leading Patent Law
Practitioners” (Euromoney, PLC). He is co-author of the chapter for Mexico in “Licensing
Best Practices: Strategic, Territorial, and Technology Issues” (Wiley, 2006).
He also yearly revises the Chapter for Mexico in “Trade Secrets throughout
the World” (Thomson) since 2006. Former President (2008-2009) of the Mexican
Chapter of the IMIQ (Mexican Institute of Chemical Engineers), Qualified Expert

Carlos Amaro is attorney at Law. He graduated from the Universidad del Valle de
México and obtained post-graduate degrees in Constitutional Law and IP Law at
the Universidad Panamericana. Juan Carlos joined Becerril, Coca & Becerril, S.C.
in 2004. He became a partner of the firm in 2010 and he is our Legal Director.
He is an active member of INTA (International Trademark Association), AIPLA

Commerce) y BMA (Mexican Bar Association). Juan Carlos has participated in

resources. Octavio joined Becerril, Coca & Becerril SC in 2005. He is a

in mechanical and optic systems, data transfer and computer technology, as well
as in electronic control networks, automation systems and data security
systems. He was member of the Mexican Society on Mechatronics in 2006, and
currently he is member of AMPPI (Mexican Association for the Protection of
Intellectual Property) where he actively participates in the Patents Committee.
In addition, he is currently studying Law at the Universidad Nacional Autónoma
de México (UNAM), and has taken part in several courses related to IP,
including the WIPO-Summer School on Intellectual Property carried out on
August, 2009 in
Mexico, as well as in the distance learning course of “General Course on
Intellectual Property” given by the WIPO Worldwide Academy on March-April 2009.
As Chief of our Technical Patent Department, he focuses his practice on the
technical analysis of patents, as well as in analyzing and responding
substantive official actions issued by the Mexican Institute of Industrial
Property for inventions related to applications in computing and related

Eugenio Ruiz is an attorney at law. He graduated form Universidad La Salle in 2001. Eugenio joined Becerril,

Association). As Department Attorney in our Trademark and Corporate Affairs

Miguel
Ángel Jiménez is an
attorney at law. He graduated from the Universidad de las Américas A.C. and has
a Bachelor of Arts in Legal Studies from the Southern Association of Colleges
and Schools from the same University. Miguel Angel joined Becerril, Coca &
Becerril SC in May, 2006. He is a member of AMPPI (Mexican Association for the
Protection of Intellectual Property). He has participated in several forums on
IP matters and has published articles in different media. Miguel Angel has
experience in Corporate, Environmental, and Administrative Law. As Corporate
Affairs Attorney of our Trademarks and Corporate Affairs department, Miguel
Angel focuses his practice in trademarks, copyrights, domain names, and
corporate changes for IP rights owners. He also provides our clients counseling
in IP prosecution.
Omar Villaseñor is an attorney at
law. He graduated from the Universidad Autónoma Metropolitana Campus
Azcapotzalco in 2001 and obtained a specialization in Corporate Law at
Universidad Iberoamericana. He also obtained post-graduate degrees on International
Law and Agreements at Universidad de Valencia, Spain and at The Hague Academy of International
Law, the Netherlands.
He speaks English, German, Polish and Spanish. Omar joined Becerril, Coca &
Becerril SC in September 2008. He is a member of AMPPI (Mexican Association for
the Protection of Intellectual Property) and ICC (International Chamber of
Commerce). He is a Member of the Task Group Force for the amendments to the
Franchising Model Contract. He worked as Law Consultant in legal and commercial
issues for the Ministry of Environment and for the PROFECO (Federal Bureau of
Consumers Protection), and in the Office of Legal Affairs of the United
Nations, New York, USA, in international contracts and
arbitration. As Corporate Affairs Attorney of our Trademarks and Corporate
Affairs department of the firm, Omar focuses his practice in corporate affairs,
technology transfer agreements, and administrative procedures.
IP RIGHTS ENFORCEMENT
Chief of IP litigation. Carlos Hernández is an
attorney at law. He graduated from Instituto Tecnológico y de Estudios
Superiores de Monterrey (ITESM), Campus Ciudad de México in 2005, and obtained
a specialization and post graduate degree in International Law at the same university.
He obtained a specialization in Intellectual Property Law from the Ilustre
y Nacional Colegio de Abogados de México, A.C., the Instituto Mexicano de
Derechos de Autor, A.C. and the Grupo México de la Asociación Literaria y
Artística Internacional in conjunction. He has
completed postgraduate studies at the universities of Georgetown
in Washington, DC,
USA, and the Trinity College
in Dublin, Ireland. Since 2007 he has been a
part time professor of the Department of Legal and Social Studies at ITESM,
Campus Ciudad de México. Carlos joined Becerril, Coca & Becerril SC in
2005. He is a member of AMPPI (Mexican Association for the Protection of
Intellectual Property), and has published articles in different media. As Chief
of our IP Litigation Department, Carlos focuses his practice in the areas of IP
litigation and Constitutional Law.
Edith Lopez is an attorney at
law. She graduated from the Universidad del
Valle de México and obtained a Specialization in Intellectual Property Law by
Universidad Panamericana. She has made Post-graduate studies in Constitutional
Law (Amparo) and Administrative Procedure at the Universidad en Estudios de
Posgrado en Derecho. Edith joined Becerril, Coca & Becerril SC in 2005. She
is a member of AMPPI (Mexican Association for the Protection of Intellectual
Property). She is experienced in litigation, anti-counterfeiting, civil and
administrative procedures, and industrial property law. As attorney at our IP
Litigation Department, Edith focuses her practice in litigation, particularly
involving patents and trademarks.
Irma Ross is an attorney at
law. She graduated with Honors from the Instituto Tecnológico y de Estudios
Superiores de Monterrey (ITESM) Campus Monterrey in 2007 and obtained a
postgraduate specialization in Amparo by the Universidad Panamericana on 2008. Irma
joined Becerril, Coca & Becerril SC in 2008. She is member of AMPPI (Mexican
Association for the Protection of Intellectual Property). Irma has participated
in several forums on IP matters. Her last article “Open litis principle: an ace under the sleeve” was published in
Mondaq.com on December 2009. She handles trademarks and copyrights,
administrative proceedings, constitutional actions, and Amparo trials. As IP
Litigation Attorney of our Litigation Department, Irma focuses her practice in
the areas of IP litigation, enforcement, and anti-counterfeiting.

Associate. Director of
Technology Protection. Jose Antonio Romero is chemical engineer. He
graduated from the “Escuela Superior de Ingeniería Química” from the “Instituto
Politécnico Nacional” (ESIQIE – IPN) in 1980. He
made studies in Masters Degree of Administration in the Universidad del Valle de México
(UVM) in 1986, and obtained a Diplomate in Intellectual Property at the
“Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México” (UNAM) in 2000. He also obtained a
Diplomate in Management Skills in the Instituto Tecnológico de Estudios
Superiores de Monterrey (ITESM) in 2003. José Antonio joined Becerril, Coca
& Becerril SC in 1989. He became associate to the firm in February 2009. He
is a member AMPPI (Mexican Association for the Protection of Intellectual
Property), LES México (Licensing Executives Society) 2010-2011, ICC México
(International Chamber of Commerce), IMIQ (Mexican Institute of Chemical
Engineers)..He is member and qualified expert of the CONIQQ (Association of
Chemical Engineers and Chemists). José Antonio has participated in several
forums on IP matters and has published articles in different media on topics
regarding appropriation of technology and licensing. He has been appointed as
expert in patents for Mexico
by the “Guide to the Worlds Leading Patent Law Experts” published by Euromoney
PLC in 2005, 2007 and 2009. As Director of Technology Protection, José Antonio focuses
his practice in drafting, prosecution and enforcement of, national and
international patent, utility model, industrial design and plant variety
applications. As well, he also focuses his practice in patentability analysis,
and watch services.

Oscar Gonzalez is a metallurgical chemical engineer. He graduated from the
Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (UNAM) in 1977. Oscar joined Becerril,
Coca & Becerril SC in 1993. He is a member of AMPPI (Mexican Association
for the Protection of Intellectual Property), LES Mexico (Licensing Executives
Society), AFM (Mexican Pharmaceutical Association) and ADIAT (Mexican
Association of Leaders in Applied Research and Technological Development). He currently
is a member of the Legal Matters and Industrial Property Committees of the AMIIF
(Mexican Association of Pharmaceutical Research Industries). As well, he is
member of the Faculty that imparts the Diplomate Course in Packing and Packaging promoted
by the AMEE (Association for Packing and Packaging). Oscar has participated as
speaker in several IP, Patent Cooperation Treaty, and Technology Transfer forums,
and has contributed with several works to national and international IP
Journals and different media. As Technology Appropriation Manager in the
Direction of Protection of Technology, Oscar focuses his practice in administration
and supervision of activities related with drafting and filing of patent,
utility model, industrial design, and plant variety applications in Mexico and
abroad, as well as in performing patent searches for establishing technical
and/or legal condition of the companies or single inventors for technology appropriation

Extraction. Hector E. Chagoya is Chemical Engineer, graduated from La Salle University. He joined Becerril, Coca
& Becerril in 1997, where he focused his activities as consultant for
Mexican and foreign companies in aspects of the analysis, drafting,
prosecution, and use of patents in polymers, biotechnology, pharmaceutics,
chemical products, and electronics/communications, including advisory in
industrial secrets protection. He became partner of the firm in 2010. As
Director of IP Value Extraction, he is in charge of the technology transfer
activities of the firm and he provides advisory in patent strategies, patent
litigation and licensing. Hector has been included since 2005 in the biannual “Guide
to the World’s Leading Patent Law Practitioners” (Euromoney, PLC). He is
co-author of the chapter for Mexico
in “Licensing Best Practices: Strategic, Territorial, and Technology Issues”
(Wiley, 2006). He also yearly revises the Chapter for Mexico in “Trade Secrets Throughout
the World” (Thomson) since 2006. Former President (2008-2009) of the Mexican
Chapter of the IMIQ (Mexican Institute of Chemical Engineers), Qualified Expert
in Economic Engineering for the CONIQQ (Association of Chemical Engineers and
Chemists), current Vicepresident of LES (Licensing Executives Society) México
2010-2011, and member of the Technical Committee and of the Technology Transfer
Commission of the ADIAT (Mexican Association of Leaders in Applied Research and
Technological Development) from 2008 to date. He is also the first in México to
achieve the CLPTM (Certified Licensing Professional) conferred by
the Certified Licensing Professionals, Inc. organization.
César
León is Chemical Engineer. He graduated from the
Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (UNAM) in 2001 and completed his studies for a Masters Degree in Industrial Administration
at the same university. César joined
Becerril, Coca & Becerril SC in 2006. He is a member of the Licensing
Executives Society (Mexico).
He has experience in manufacturing within the abrasives industry, and worked
for the local government during two years. As Department Engineer of our IP
Value Extraction Area, César focuses his practice in the areas of IP valuation,
franchising, promotion and/or licensing of technology, search and technical
analysis of patents, and technology competitive intelligence.
Mariana Gonzalez is Chemist. She graduated from the
Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (UNAM) in 2005. Mariana joined
Becerril, Coca & Becerril SC in 2008. She is
a member of Licensing Executives Society (LES). She has past experience in
research, including a research stay at Ohio State University (USA) in the field
of characterization of DNA bases. As Department Engineer in our IP Value
Extraction area, Mariana focuses her practice in the areas of substantive
issues of patent litigation, technological competitive intelligence and strategic
knowledge management as well as in other activities related to technology
transfer.

Partner. Marketing Head. Rosa
E. Nuria Becerril is Experimental Biologist. She graduated from the Universidad
Autónoma Metropolitana Campus Iztapalapa in 1996 and obtained that same year a
Diplomate Degree in Developmental Biology at the same University. She obtained
a Diplomate in Management Skills at the Instituto Tecnológico de Monterrey, Campus
Santa Fe in 2003. She speaks English, German, and Spanish. Nuria joined
Becerril, Coca & Becerril SC as partner in 1998. She is a member of AMPPI
(Mexican Association for the Protection of Intellectual Property). Nuria has
participated as speaker on IP matters in several forums and has published
articles in different media such as International Law Office, Mondaq.com and
MiPatente magazine. She contributes to the yearly update of the International
Pharmaceutical Law and Practice Manual chapter from Mexico for Lexis-Nexis. As
Marketing Head of the firm, Nuria focuses her practice in biotechnological
patents advisory, and in marketing activities of the firm.
Associate. Assistant Director of
Industrial Property Management. Raul Dominguez is Industrial and Systems
Engineer. He graduated from the Instituto Tecnológico y de Estudios Superiores
de Monterrey Campus Ciudad de Mexico in the year 2000. He later made a
Diplomate Course in Management Skills and another one in Finances at the
Instituto Tecnológico y de Estudios Superiores de Monterrey. Raúl joined
Becerril, Coca & Becerril, S.C. in 2002. He currently is Assistant
Director of IP Management. He became associate to the firm in May, 2010. He is
a member of AMPPI (Mexican Association for the Protection of Intellectual
Property), INTA (International Trademark Association), and IPO (Intellectual
Property Owners Association). He has published articles in different media such
as International Law Office and Mondaq. As assistant Director of Industrial
Property Management, he supervises all docketing activities, including the
control, management, analysis, and distribution of all of the orders and
instructions received from our clients and the maintenance of all industrial
property matters. He also makes operational statistics of the firm, and is also
in charge of the supervision and updating of our internal network, computerized
systems and databases; and of the preparation of special software for
particular applications.
Archives Manager. Allan
Bustindui is administrator. He joined Becerril, Coca & Becerril, S.C.
in 1983. He has participated in the National Convention of Archives, where the
parameters for consulting and security of information, public and private, are
revised and implemented. As Manager of the Archive Department of Industrial
Property Management, Allan focuses his activities in supervising and
controlling the Central file-consulting and photocopying departments, as well
as the scanning processes and preparation of suitable backups for security
purposes of every file of the firm. purposes.
Chief of Docketing. Emilio Carrillo is an attorney
at law. He graduated from the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (UNAM) in
1989. Emilio initially joined Becerril, Coca & Becerril SC from 1989
until 2001, where he collaborated in different departments. From 2002 to 2010 when
he reincorporated to the firm, he was in charge of the IP department in one of
the most important Mexican TV companies, focusing his activities in the
entertainment and copyrights fields. He has been member of AMPPI (Mexican
Association for the Protection of Intellectual Property) and INTA
(International Trademark Association). He has participated in several forums on
IP matters and has published articles in different media. Emilio has been
involved in trademark and copyright prosecution as well as in IP litigation, enforcement
and administrative proceedings. As Chief of the Docketing Department of our IP

Chief of Systems. Antonio
Caamaño is systems technician certified by Microsoft. Antonio joined Becerril,
Coca & Becerril SC in 1988. He currently is Chief of Systems Department. He
has a vast experience in Network Administration, Hardware, and Graphic Design.
As Chief of Systems of our IP Management Direction, Antonio focuses his practice
in the Technical Support, Internet Providers, and Graphic Design Departments, and
coordinates the network administration activities as well as the Graphic Design
activities, including the generation of drawings, prints and logos of all kind
of industrial property matters.
Chief of Application
Development. Jaime Díaz has a degree in Computer Science. He graduated from the
Instituto Politécnico Nacional (IPN) in 1982. Jaime joined Becerril, Coca &
Becerril, S.C.
since 2002. He has participated in Evaluation Software (Account Mate Corp.) in
San Francisco, California, USA, and in the Diplomate Course of Management
Skills held in the Instituto Tecnológico de Estudios Superiores de Monterrey,
Campus Santa Fe in 2003. He is Certified in WEB application development
in .NET platfrom in the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (UNAM), and is constantly
updating in Information Technology. As Chief of Application Development of our IP
Management Direction, he coordinates the generation and maintenance of tailor -
suited applications on demand for the firm’s needs.
Guillermo Symonds has a Bachelor’s
Degree in Industrial Engineering with a Major in Systems Engineering. He
graduated from the Instituto Tecnológico y de Estudios Superiores de Monterrey (ITESM),
Campus Estado de México in 2010. He obtained a Certification
in ISO 14001 and OSHAS 18001 systems as internal auditor that same year. Guillermo
joined Becerril, Coca & Becerril SC in 2010. He is a member of APICS (American
Production and Inventory Control Society). Guillermo has taken a preparation
course in Intellectual Property during 2010. As IP Management Assistant, he
focuses his practice in the implementation and execution of special
instructions from our clients. He collaborates in updating our internal network
and in the areas of Strategic Management and Benchmarking to elaborate
operational and comparative statistics for the firm.

Ana Patricia Lopez is a Business Administrator. She graduated from the
Intercontinental University (UIC) in 2003, and obtained a Diplomate Degree in Management
Skills at the Instituto Tecnológico y de Estudios Superiores de Monterrey (ITESM)
Campus Santa Fe that same year. Ana Patricia joined Becerril, Coca &
Becerril SC in 2000. She has developed in different areas of the company which
has helped to consolidate her knowledge and know-how in her area of current
action. As Manager of our Finance and Administration Direction, Ana Patricia focuses
her practice in the areas of Finance, Credits and Accounts, and Treasure.
Human Resources Manager. Omar
Velarde is a Business Administrator. He graduated from the Instituto
Tecnológico y de Estudios Superiores de Monterrey (ITESM) Campus Mexico City in
2004 and obtained a specialization in Operational Management of Human Resources
at the same Institute. Omar joined Becerril, Coca & Becerril SC in 2005. He
has specialized in the area of Human Resources as his career within the company
has been in the Human Resources Division, starting as a Director’s Assistant
all the way to become Manager after five years of hard work, where he focuses
his practice in the areas of Human Resources and Commercialization Strategy of
the Company.

Durán is an attorney at law. He graduated from the E.N.E.P. Acatlán - Universidad
Nacional Autónoma de México (UNAM) in 1990 and obtained a pre-specialization in
Commerce Law, at the UNAM. He studied the Diplomate for Teachers in Industrial
Property given by the Mexican Institute of Industrial Property in conjunction
with The Instituto Tecnológico de Monterrey in 2005. Roberto joined Becerril,
Coca & Becerril SC in 2003 and became an associate in February 2009. He is
a member of AMPPI (Mexican Association for the Protection of Intellectual Property),
ANADE (National Association of Entrepreneur Lawyers), and the College of Lawyers.
He has participated in several forums on IP matters and has published articles
in different media. He has given several conferences on Intellectual Property
topics in the ANADE, Jalisco division. As manager of our Branch Office in
Guadalajara, Roberto focuses his practice in the areas of attention and
specialized advisory to our clients about all the services of our Guadalajara
Office, such as filing, prosecution, preservation and enforcement of Patents,

Mercado joined
